STEELCASE + Josep Casadellà (TANDEM Design Mgr.)

In the past TANDEM has worked with numerous top-tier companies, one of them being STEELCASE through collaboration with our design manager Josep Casadellà, who in the mid-90’es was invited to design a line of chairs for this renowned French company.

THE CHALLENGE:

Design a line of chairs with similar recognizable aesthetics all the way from operative to executive chairs.

FINAL RESULT:

The SWIFT swivel-chair line was created using the blow-moulding technology, allowing robust one-piece plastic parts without the need for screws or bolts. This gave a very clean and robust look and allowed for several different pieces of furniture in the same line, always with the same aesthetics, from operative to executive chairs. Even at present day, the SWIFT chair is one of STEELCASE’s best-selling products!

In der Vergangenheit hat TANDEM mit zahlreichen erstklassigen Unternehmen gearbeitet, einer von denen ist STEELCASE durch die Zusammenarbeit mit unseren Design Manager, Josep Casadellà. Er wurde in der Mitte den neunziger Jahren aufgefordert, eine Linie von Stühlen für das renommierte fransözische Firma zu entwerfen.

DIE FORDERUNG:

Entwickeln Sie eine Linie von Stühlen mit ähnliche Ästhetik, erkennbar vom Operativstühle bis zum Management.

ENDERGEBNIS:

Die SWIFT Drehlstuhllinie wurde mit der "Blow-moulding" Technologie entwickelt, so dass robuste, einteilige Kunststofteile ohne Schrauben oder Bolzen erstellt sein konnte. Das gab eine sehr saubere und robuste Optik und machte möglich verschiedene Möbelstücke in dieselbe Linie, ab Operativ bis zum Management, mit ähnliche Ästhetik zu machen. Der SWIFT drehstuhl ist bei heutigen Tag einer der meistverkauften Produkte von STEELCASE!
